November 26, 2023 | How Your Story can Bless the World
Big Idea
When we live out the B.L.E.S.S. practices, we will revive evangelism and the lost will find their way back to God.
Scripture
John 9:1-34 and Genesis 12:1-3
Series Overview
In the final week of our current series, Lost Cause, we will learn how to revive our hearts to share God’s good news with others. Evangelism is not a lost cause, but an opportunity to help people find their way back to God through the B.L.E.S.S. practices.
Opening Questions
- Were you able to serve one of your eight neighbors, coworkers or friends this week? If yes, what was that like for you? If not, try to make this week the time to reach out and see what God does.
- What is your favorite holiday, and why?
Bible Discussion
- For an example of how simple it can look to share your story, read John 9:1-34. Discuss the blind man’s journey of faith throughout this passage. How does Jesus use physical healing to address spiritual blindness? What are some signs from the story that the Pharisees are spiritually blind? How does the blind man respond to them?
- In Genesis 12:1-3, God makes a divine calling to Abram. What is it? How does Abram respond? How does this compare to other instances of divine calling in the Bible?
- How has God blessed all people through Abram? Read Acts 3:25 and Galatians 3:8-9 to develop your answer.
Life Application
- What was your life like before you met Jesus? How did you meet him? What’s different about your life now that you follow Jesus? Have you ever shared your story of coming to faith in Christ with anyone? If so, what was that experience like? If not, what could you do to share your story (the second S in the B.L.E.S.S. practices) in your relationships?
- The healed man confessed that there were some things he didn’t know about Jesus. How is his reply of “I don’t know” instructive for us as we share the gospel?
- What could you do now to ready yourself to share your story and invite others to follow Jesus? Continue praying for your eight neighbors, friends or coworkers, that God will give you the opportunity to share the way Jesus has changed your life story for the better.
