men-tor (n): a wise and trusted teacher and guide

"You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more." Psalm 10:17-18This mentoring ministry is for children of single-parent homes to provide consistent and effective mentoring by a non-parental role model who will listen and express God's love through one-to-one friendships. Mentoring represents: Healing, Encouragement, Leadership, Partnership, and Salvation.

What is Mentoring?

The 10:17 Youth Mentoring Ministry prepares and assists Christian volunteers to be "matched" as a mentor in a friendship relationship with one child of the same gender. The mentor and child will spend 1-2 hours each week together with such activities as playing ball, flying a kite, going to the zoo, baking cookies, or any other activities both enjoy. We not only take care in choosing the right mentor for the right child, we also support the relationship (mentor, child and parent) throughout the mentoring relationship with advice, training and resources. Who can be a Mentor?

We are looking for men and women (age 21+) who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and sense His call on their lives to enter this one-to-one ministry.
