altThe Community Impact Team has planned a cookout on Thursdays 7/23 & 7/30, to begin relationships with the Kendall County Food Pantry patrons. At a planning meeting you could feel the excitement as ideas for more future events were discussed. Burgers and hotdogs were decided to be the grilled items for our first event. "We are not the Food Pantry", said Ron Kelso - Director of the Yrkvl Community Impact Team, "We are an entity for Christ - the hands and feet of the Impact Ministry'. Funds to support the event are being sought as well as others that want to make a difference in our own community. If you are interested, please contact Ron Kelso at: ronkelso@sbcglobal.net

Pastor Rick Warren, of Saddleback Church in California and Author of, A Purpose Driven Life, threw down the gauntlet, this last weekend... and exposed his sockless ankles, when he said, "The most dangerous prayer you can pray is; God, use me". Then continued on, "If you let God USE you... He'll knock your socks off - LOOK!!!", lifting the bottom cuffs up, of both pant legs. :) Pastor Rick has run around sockless, for the 20yrs I have known him. However, don't be humorously distracted by that fun little factoid, rather focus your attention on the evidence that the man has an incredible heart for God!

News

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

While the days of summer heat turned up, our Yorkville Stuco group cranked up the water and suds for a carwash at the CarStar, in Yorkville! Car washes were $10 (with $5 of every ten, donated to the Make a Wish Foundation) and they washed appox 20 cars, that day! When asked what he thought of the experience, StuCo student, Ethan Bell said, "It's pretty much, the greatest thing I've ever done! It was awesome getting to raise money and hang out with so many cool people!" The StuCo team was raising money to support The Make a Wish Foundation and StuCo event costs, in support of attendees needing financial assistance.

Flavio's son, however, is allergic to mold- so handling water in the basement quickly is important.  That very day people from Flavio's small group were over at his house helping to bail him out....literally.
