Small Group Adventure

Written by Beth Kolar Friday, 26 June 2009 10:25

I callalted Chris before group (my apprentice and host) to let him know that I was so impacted by the message this past weekend that I wanted us to spend the bulk of our time in prayer. He didn't answer his phone so I left a message. My Small Group waiting for me (I was on time) Mike, Marc, Chris and John...(I tagged Mike as his son Ethan as he was also at group, just not in the picture) When I got to group they were all standing outside, pretty excited and looking like the cat that ate the mouse. (or lion that ate the gazelle, since they are all manly men) They had a plan!

Getting Plowed in Yorkville...

Friday, 06 February 2009 18:56

altDave Beasley and I were putting our coats on at the end of small group and talking about how heavy the snow was coming down. I told Dave that I had to shovel the Grande Reserve clubhouse sidewalk for a baby shower we were having for my daughter the next day. That’s when Dave told me were expecting 10 inches!

Let it Snow!

Written by Kym, Yorkville Campus

Everyone has been wondering, Why all the snow this year?  At the beginning of winter, Dennis' job of building houses had slowed considerably, but he was able to find some work plowing snow...if it snowed of course!  So, I asked my small group to pray for SNOW!!  Didn't God answer our prayers in an amazing way?  We just heard on the news this is the most snow we've had in 30 years!

In our small group, we each made a spiritual development goal for this year and mine was prayer.  I love my small group and am so thankful for their prayers.  While we journaled through the Psalms, this verse really meant a lot to me...Psalm 5:3  Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord.  Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.  God has been so good to my family, and I'm very grateful that He listens to my prayers.  And...sorry to everyone for all the extra shoveling you've had to do, but don't put those shovels away yet!

Joining Square One

Written by AJ, Romeoville Campus

I joined the small group, “Square one” shortly after I started attending the Sunday celebrations at Community.  If it were not for my small group I would not have been able to expand my mind and spirit to welcome God into my heart. I was searching to fill a void in my life for quite a long time. Community and my small group have filled in the empty spaces in my life. I am so grateful for the friendships I have developed with each member. My small group as helped me build a strong foundation and understanding of God and the bible.
