Child DedicationRomeoville Tuesday, 24 August 2010 13:05We are pleased to announce that our next Child Dedication will be on Sunday, September 26th during each service. The Child Dedication ceremony provides parents of infants and young children a formal, public opportunity to dedicate their children to the Lord. In Samuel 1:27-28, Hannah dedicated her son Samuel to the Lord: “I prayed for this child, and the Lord had granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And in Luke 2:22, Jesus was dedicated as a baby. “When their time of purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Mary and Joseph took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.” During this service, parents affirm their own faith in Jesus Christ and promise to model and teach that faith to their children. At the same time, the church promises to support the parents in the task of raising their children. God has given parents a wonderful and exciting responsibility of passing on a foundation for their own faith in Jesus Christ. God knows you need the loving support of the church as you teach and nurture your child. The Child Dedication Class will be September 12th at 9:30 am. To register please fill out an information card at the Kids’ City Welcome Table or contact Pillara Smith, the Kids’ City Director. Please register by September 10th.
