When my husband and I made the decision it was time for us to start serving at Community we felt it was important to find an area where we could contribute as a family. At the time, our sons were 9 and 10 years old. We knew we needed something that was not too difficult, or that would require large blocks of time – we wanted the boys to learn to enjoy serving and helping people find their way back to God now so that they will continue serving throughout their lives.
We were soon presented with the opportunity to serve in Kids’ City – not as small group leaders but helping out once a month setting up the Kids’ City rooms. We thought we would give it a try and we loved it! We work as family – each of us has specific tasks and within an hour we’ve helped transform empty classrooms into great learning areas for kids in Uptown and Club 45.
Recently we took our serving up a notch, in addition to setting up; we’ve been tearing down once a month as well. We compete as a family to see if we can “best” our tear down time from the month before.
Serving on the Kids’ City set up and tear down teams has been a great way for our family to serve together and we’d love to have you join us!
Kids’ City is looking for additional families or small groups to join the set up and tear down teams. The commitment is about one hour per month and on the job training will be provided!
Please contact Dani Seaton if you’d like to join the team.
