How Will God Use You?

Montgomery

As we prepare to take on all that God has called us to in 2010 at Montgomery Campus (including launching 2 new Aurora Campuses, and taking big steps forward at our own campus), we are working hard throughout the month of January to find people to join us in serving/leading on one of our various campus teams. I would love to challenge/encourage you to pray and talk with someone about where God wants you to play a role on our team. We need you, and you need us!  Remember—you make us better by bringing your gifts/passions to our team, and I truly believe that playing a vital part in carrying out God’s mission will add something immeasurable to your life as well.

So where do we want help at?  Wherever you are gifted at/passionate about!

Not sure what opportunities are even available?  Here are 5 of our teams that we are hoping to build up most quickly:

1)     Kids City Team – You can’t beat the opportunity to invest into kids!  And it’s a great chance to serve together with your spouse, friend, or teenage son/daughter.

2)     Weekend Media Team – Feel comfortable on the computer?  Check out our Media team, where you’d get to have the fun of serving one weekend a month to make our weekend services happen.

3)     Weekend Producer Team – Like to manage people or pull off events?  Then you’d have a blast serving one weekend a month pulling the details together to execute our weekend services.

4)     Stuco Team – Again, you can’t beat the opportunity to invest into some younger people who are hungry to learn about God. And they have about as much fun as is legally allowed on church grounds each Wed. night.

5)     Hospitality Team – Do you have the gift of hospitality (even if you won’t admit it)? Then you’d really enjoy serving one service per month behind our Hospitality Counter at weekend services, helping everyone enjoy all of the snacks and coffee that we offer!  This is another great place to serve with a spouse, friend, or teenage son/daughter.

And here are 2 more “behind the scenes” teams that you may never see, but are just as vital in helping us do what we do around here:

1)     Counting Team –  Are you detail-oriented and good at counting money?  Then we’d love to have you serve once a month on our Counting Team, where you get to handle the weekend’s offerings and enter them into our database on a Sunday afternoon.

2)     Courier Team – Do you live/work near our Naperville Campus, or don’t mind driving out there once in awhile?  Check out our Courier Team, who is responsible for getting the stuff we need for weekend services to/from our Naperville Campus, one weekend a month.

Email Carter Moss if you are interested in any of these (or other) areas.  You could be an answer to our prayers!

Snacks for Jesus

altDid you know that all of those wonderful snacks we enjoy at weekend Celebration services are actually provided by volunteers? We have a team of volunteers who faithfully bake (or buy) snacks to share at weekend services. Beyond just keeping us well-fed and bribing people with cookies, this serves as an important part in our mission of creating an environment that helps people find their way back to God and experience real community.

As we head in to summer we would like to add to this team and we would like YOU to be a part of it! It's a simple and fun way to get involved in serving. Choose a service you would like to bring snacks (Saturday at 5 PM, Sunday at 9:30 or Sunday at 11 AM), and we will send you a reminder once a month to bring your snacks that weekend. It's that easy! You can be as creative as you want and you will hear everyone rave about your "secret recipe" cookies!

If you're interested, email Diane (diane.friel@phonak.com) and get more info!

Impacting Oswego

altAt COMMUNITY we passionately believe that we need to be about far more than just “doing church”--we need to make sure we are “being the church.”  I am constantly challenged by the question, “If your church ever closed its doors, would anyone in the community even notice?  Would they care?”  I desperately want that answer to be “YES!”

At Montgomery Campus, along with other campuses over the last few years, we have done a lot to “be the church” in East Aurora, which is resulting in some big-time community transformation. And now we get to be a part of helping launch a new campus there in January!

So now our campus is ready to take what we’ve learned there and begin working hard to make a real community impact Oswego & Montgomery. This is where you come in!

Never would I have thought attending a home-school Christmas play would bring me back to God and more!  I was well aware my existence was completely lacking spirituality…but I would never know the complete extent.  Before my rut, I was a pretty cool/normal person.  I’d helped a couple of elderly people with groceries, I volunteered here and there.  I was aware of a Higher power, but felt I didn’t have to have any formal accountability.  I guess you could say I was the stereotypical South Side Irish Catholic.

Montgomery Campus IMPACT!

Montgomery

Tuesday, 20 October 2009 15:52

Hopefully you've heard of IMPACT by now--if not, read about it here.

Recently, the Montgomery Campus unveiled the 3 new initiatives that God has called us to as part of IMPACT. We strongly believe that each of these will continue to expand the legacy of our campus, and more importantly, expand the Jesus Mission!

  1. In January 2010, we get to help launch East Aurora Campus, a new bilingual campus in the heart of downtown East Aurora.
  2. In March 2010, we get to help launch Aurora North Campus, a new campus that is poised to reach thousands of people throughout Aurora, Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, and beyond.
  3. We will be expanding our current facility in Montgomery, which will allow us to:
  • Host more "community impact opportunities" and turn us into even more of a "community center"
  • Provide more much needed space for our growing Stuco ministry (which currently has small groups meeting in the storage room!)
  • Provide more much needed space for our growing Kids CIty ministry
  • Provide more much needed connecting space in our lobby, which help us become even more relational and welcoming as a campus

Small Groups: Everybody's Doin' It

Montgomery

We are all about small groups at COMMUNITY.  Why?  Because we have seen over and over that they are where true community can happen.  And we want you to be part of making that community possible!

Here are three opportunities for YOU to take advantage of!

1.  Join a Small Group - We offer Discipleship Groups, Mens and Womens Groups, as well as Neighborhood Groups.  Let us help you find a group for you.

2.  Host a Small Group - One of the pieces that make small groups work well is having a welcoming space to gather in.  Could your home become one of those spaces?

3. Training to be a Small Group Leader - Ever wondered what it could be like to help facilitate a group discussion - helping others in their spiritual journey?  Then come join us and see if becoming a small group leader would be a good fit for you.

Please RSVP to either:  Jenn Moss (jennmoss@communitychristian.org) or Tim Raad

Please contact Jenn Moss to take YOUR next step in Finding Your Way Back to God through small groups.
