I make it a rule to never pass a child run lemonade stand. I always stop and buy the watered down, sometimes very warm lemonade. It only takes a quarter (or whatever they maybe charging) to put a smile on a kids face. I know many of you are already wondering what does this have to do with giving. Well, for me, giving financially to the church is easy…I just write a check- I need to work at giving of myself. Making my life a living offering! Jesus said, “Whatever you do for the least of these, you do it for me.”(Matthew 25:40) What am I doing?
I was at the McDonalds drive thru the other day and the young girl taking the money in the drive thru window was friendly, smiling and we had a brief yet wonderful conversion. When I reached the front window to pick up my food, I asked to talk with the manager. The manager quickly stepped to the window; I said, “I just wanted you to know the girl in the back window was fantastic!” The manager looked at me, sort of in shock and said Thanks. I hope the manager gave the girl a hug, high five or a hang shake. That’s what I’m talking about. I don’t want to just do random acts of kindness. I want to be kindness. This may take time…but I believe this is what Jesus is calling me to do.
So if you’re looking for me…I’ll be at the lemonade stand.
