In July 2008, we were challenged to give generously like we've never given before for 10 weeks! For those 10 weeks we saw God move in people's lives. If you're not yet tithing, start tithing now! And if you're already giving above a tithe, start giving above and beyond! Enjoy these stories and comments that were made during the challenge.

We’re done. The 10 weeks is over. If you had anything near the experience we’ve had, then you are blessed. It has been an eye opening, thought provoking, conversation starting experience. Uncomfortable at times, hugs not with standing – we’re talking about MONEY out loud after all, - and giving it away and our struggles with that. That’s not easy to talk about.

Sometimes giving money to church can seem kind of boring. It doesn’t seem to be as exciting a contribution as singing on stage or working with kids in Kids’ City. Where does the money go? What does it help pay for? A garbage can, a chair?
When you think about contributing financially to Community, you are contributing to the mission of Community – and that is helping people find their way back to God. So wouldn’t it make sense that everything that is done with anything (including the money we give) is core to that mission?

This biblical truth has never been more clear to me. The other day, my four-year-old son Andrew and I were learning about giving. I thought I was doing the teaching but God has a way of flipping the script on us in those moments.
My wife Julie and Andrew were heading to the store and he was hoping to buy a new toy dinosaur. My parents always give the kids their spare change when they come to visit.

I make it a rule to never pass a child run lemonade stand. I always stop and buy the watered down, sometimes very warm lemonade. It only takes a quarter (or whatever they maybe charging) to put a smile on a kids face. I know many of you are already wondering what does this have to do with giving. Well, for me, giving financially to the church is easy…I just write a check- I need to work at giving of myself. Making my life a living offering! Jesus said, “Whatever you do for the least of these, you do it for me.”(Matthew 25:40) What am I doing?

There is a community in Philadelphia called The Simple Way. They're a group of Christ followers that live in one of the worst areas of Philly. It's a community that grew out of an action to help homeless people being threatened eviction out of an abandoned church in the area. The Simple Way just love God and Jesus and live a very Biblical life of loving others. In his book "Ordinary Radical", Shane tells a story of great renewal.
