December 5 / 6 -- "Revolution"

Big Idea: Christmas was not meant to be just another holiday.  It was meant to be a revolution.

This message will open with an intro about Christmas being just part of the calendar, no matter how much we love it, it just happens every year and then it happens again and the only thing that really changes is how old the kids are and how much its going to cost.  Christmas was meant to be a revolution – it was meant to change things.  Instead for some of us Christmas means parties, full calendars, shopping and chaos and we forget what it really means.

December 12 / 13 -- "Yesterday"

Big Idea: Christmas is not about the past, but the future and as Christ-followers we are meant to be on the offensive in this world.

Christmas is a time of nostalgia, isn’t it?  We go all the way to our childhoods, or when our kids were little, to the “good ole days”, kind of like in the song “Yesterday”. But Christmas was also the beginning of Jesus making war on the darkness and dominion of evil on the planet. 

December 19/20 -- "All The Lonely People"

Big Idea: Reaching out to people who are lonely is not just nice, its at the very heart of being a Christ-follower.

This message will be about Jesus and what He experienced in his lifetime – pain, rejection, abandonment, loneliness. But Jesus became human and came to earth to seek and save all the lonely people.  We tend to see Jesus as a feel good thing this time of year or just the solution of the problem of wanting to go to heaven, but Jesus is so much more.

December 26 / 27 -- "Across The Universe"

Big Idea: The world wants to conform us, but God wants to transform us.

Christmas doesn't change much.  It's nice alot of the times, some years its really rough, but Christmas is kind of a cyclical thing: just comes around every year and we enjoy it more or less, and then it's over for another year and then it comes around and we go "wow, hard to believe it's almost Christmas again."  (Song says "Nothings gonna change my world')  But it's meant to change us – not the holiday, but Jesus.
